Lying Scumbag Donald Trump Jr. claims U.S. COVID deaths are 'almost nothing' on day over 1,000 people die
Donald Trump Jr. appeared on The Ingraham Angle Thursday night where he made a wildly incorrect claim about coronavirus deaths in the United States. While blasting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison for capping attendance at President Trump’s upcoming Minnesota rally at 250 people, which is in line with the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, the president’s son claimed that deaths in the U.S. due to COVID-19 are down to almost nothing.
“If you look — I put it up on my Instagram a couple days ago ’cause I went through the CDC data because I kept hearing about new infections,” Trump Jr. said. “But I was like, ‘Why aren’t they talking about deaths? Oh, oh, because the number is almost nothing.’”
Trump Jr. went on to tout therapeutics, the most prevalent of which is Remdesivir, which is only being used in the most severe cases, and was shown in a recent study of 11,000 people in 30 countries to not prevent death from COVID-19. He also claimed that the U.S. has the coronavirus under control, despite mounting evidence to the contrary, like the U.S. setting a record for new cases in a single day on the very same day. Not to mention things have gotten so bad in El Paso, Texas, that the city just ordered a two-week shutdown of non-essential services, and Wisconsin is now running low on available ICU beds.
“We’ve gotten control of this thing,” Trump Jr. said. “We understand how it works, they have the therapeutics to be able to deal with this. If you look at that — look at my Instagram — it’s gone to almost nothing. We’re outperforming Europe in a positive way, so well because we’ve gotten ahold of this.”
Trump Jr. went on to repeat the falsehood that the number of cases are only going up because testing is up, ignoring the fact that positivity ratescontinue to rise across the country.
“Rising case numbers are because they’re testing more,” Trump Jr. said. “So, I mean, they don’t talk about that either.”
