An Open Letter To Lindsey Graham

Dear Lindsey, 

We are on the brink of nuclear war; you said it yourself. The world is looking at two madmen with nuclear arsenals who seem to be itching to use them like a kid with a pack of firecrackers on the first of July. 

Jeb Bush didn't have to be a prophet when he said a Trump presidency would be a chaos presidency. I was hoping his remarks were hyperbole but they were an understatement. You compared Trump and Cruz with being shot or poisoned. That too may have been an understatement. 

It frightens me every night knowing that this madman has the nuclear launch codes and that his madman counter part has the same means to cause a holocaust. I doubt is either one of them have ever faced a personally dangerous situation like a school yard fight, a mugger, or an angry crazy person. Back when kids could duke it out in the school without it being a crime honor was learned and earned. Had Trump gone to public school he may have leaned a few lessons in honor. 

It was shocking to me that, you, Jeb Bush, George Pataki, and John Kasich, sane people who know how to govern failed to attract voters. I'm a liberal and I've always known that the Republican base was more than a bit depraved but I thought that there were enough moderates and George Will style conservatives to balance out the sickos. Now they are turning on actual conservatives such as you and American hero Senator McCain.

Ross Perot basically said if a person is a low life weasel scumbag, he didn't want their vote. Perot was not a man to dance with th devil. I voted for Ross Perot. Unlike the Northeast, South Carolina has a lot of crazies who thrive on hate and the likes of Pat Robertson, Alex Jones, and Steve Bannon. You can kiss that party of Reagan good-bye and probably your career because you and other sane Republicans though it would be OK to dance a little bit with the devil. You got bit for pandering to what Hillary called a basket of deplorables. These deplorables turned on you and other sane Republicans like the snakes that they are. They allowed Trump to trash American hero John McCain. Sadly he also danced with the devil's daughter Sarah Palin.

My father earned 4 battle stars in WW-2. He only spoke of North Africa and Italy. Others told me about his time in France and Germany during the occupation. Only 7% of of Germans were Nazis. I suspect that the population of Nazis and racists is much higher in the US red states. Republicans need to stop selling their humanity. If there ever is time for Republicans to have a come to Jesus/Bob Corker moment this would be it. Denounce your depraved base and stop playing the game. They never liked you, they just hate Democrats more. The time has come to stop playing games Lindsey and return to honor. Had Jeb Bush stepped across the debate stage and knock the crap out of Trump instead of playing the victim he would have earned the respect of real Americans instead all you guys did was weasel and whine and take to so called high road. Maybe you have been in the DC fantasy coccoon too long.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Kneel with the players at NFL games.

2. Medicare for everyone.

3. Denounce your base, false Christians that they are.

4. Be a true champion for the people.

5. Never be dishonest again. 

6. America first? No Humanity first!

7. Champion the constitution and its Bill of Rights. That is America.

8. Publicly burn the Confederate swastika and admit that Southern heritage represented by those vile symbols and statues of traitors is anti-American.

9. Denounce your "half-baked make the corrupt medical industry richer plan" for the cruel folly that it is. Come on Lindsey, this one doesn't even pass the giggle test with any informed person with a 3 digit IQ. 

10. Rumor has it that you are a closet homosexual. A lot of Republicans are. To a decent person ones sexual orientation makes no difference but to a Bible banging hypocrite it does matter. If you are gay as many suspect, stop hiding it and show some courage. 

America and democracy is in deep trouble and that trouble, like always, is coming from the extreme authoritarian right. 

You have not been a great leader but here is your chance to lead by example. You can get a gig on news shows or a book deal and speaking engagements. You have a likable personality and you are sane. You can be more effective beating up on the Fox News parroting Putin supporting deplorables. 

Show some courage, honor and integrity. There are better things to do with your life than kissing the asses of deplorable people so that you can have a cushy job in DC.
