iPhone Dictation Sucks and Siri SUCKS More Than Ever! Class Action Lawsuit Coming? Boycott?

Apple is another entity more evil than Trump. Apple uses Chinese slave labor and their products now suck. Apple executives are corporate criminals and they should be arrested, tried and sent to prisons so inmates can torture them.

Does anyone else have the problems with dictation? I swear it gets worse with every new ios update. Now it is so bad it is unusable. For the first time since owning a iPhone, I now have to type all my messages. Voice dictation is so bad and unusable. I speak very clear and I am very articulate and the voice dictation absolutely misses on every front. It has gotten so bad that I am considering changing from iPhone to a samsung. I have already left the Mac world for PC because of the inflated prices of the Mac at my level. I bought a PC the equivalent of a Mac pro for literally 1/3 the price and now the the terrible...horrible...pathetic voice dictation I am about done with Apple and their products altogether.

Why can’t you fix Siri so that it doesn’t change dictation when I’m trying to use speech to text

G it worked fine here well I want to do that whenever I’m actually using it texting why does it keep changing things that I don’t say in with each iOS upgrade it gets worse no I had I done this on a text message who knows what it would say I have to keep going back erasing what I put in and then hope that’s what I said it’s still there when I send it

It even changed some of my words to really filthy words I realize I may not have the best space in the world but at least I know what I said Siri says what it wants to say fix it but I’m going back to android and Google iPhones are overrated!

I have a cheap Android phone and a 3rd gen iPad. Speech to text is great on the android, worthless garbage on the iPad. Just unusably bad. I was considering upgrading to an iphone 12 but dictation simply doesn’t work half the time. That’s unacceptable.

I feel your pain! I’m finding it hard to believe that iOS dictation has gotten this bad. When I was still on Android a year and a half ago, I actually wrote an entire 18-page term paper on my phone. It required minimal edits. I got an A+.

Reproducing that feat on an iPhone would be absolutely impossible. Not even a chance. Like you, I speak very clearly and articulately, yet every other word is misinterpreted. I was texting my brother a little while ago and I asked him how his dog was doing. I said very clearly, "How has Fred been?" This was registered as "How is friend been?" Um....really?

I can see Fred being misinterpreted as friend, but how in the heck does AI in 2021 come up with "is been"? How did it not realize that the right word was "has"? Grammatically, it makes zero sense, and iOS should have realized that. Android would have.

Also, like you, I am considering going back to Android. I use voice dictation heavily, and Apple's is simply atrocious. It’s a shameful, horrific mess. It’s barely usable and barely functional. I don’t see how Apple can go on like this and pretend like everything is OK. It’s not OK. This is a massive failure. Enough of a failure to send people to another platform.

Yes yes yes! I had an iPhone 6 and I usually never updated it and my dictation worked perfect on that phone. I recently updated to the iPhone 12 and the dictation is horrible now. I am so annoyed. I’m glad I’m not the only one though. I hope Apple fixes this because I use this feature so much. It’s frustrating!

100% agreed. Dictation unusable now. Apple, WHAT HAPPENED? I used to dictate EVERYTHING and now cannot dictate ANYTHING – not even small sentences. Not only is it worse at capturing the words, on the rare occasion it transcribes a dictation accurately – it then auto changes to something wrong (and often non-sensical). It would be laughable if it wasn’t so incredibly frustrating. Could be a deal-breaker for me this, Apple. PLEASE SORT IT OUT!

I am 100% with you. I switched to Apple a couple years ago because of a job and in my opinion everything on Apple is better except voice to text. I have never seen such a huge failure for such a major feature on a system that is so widely used. How is this acceptable? Why are there people lining the streets to get these phones when they don't even work. are use text to talk for the majority of my communications when I'm texting or emailing. I had to switch that when I purchase Apple products because well it doesn't work. The diction is just horrid and whoever is designing this really needs to take some English classes. I was going to upgrade but I'm gonna switch back to android. when i called Apple help and ask them about it they told me to update my phone. Also what's with a new phone being released every couple months? It's not feeling like it's all that deal and there's really no point to upgrading.

Senator says Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg should face 20 year prison term

Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said in a recent interview that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg should be accountable for privacy lapses and that the “possibility of a prison term” should be considered.
Facebook was fined $5 billion by the FTC and $100 million by the SEC.
Facebook came under fire for exposing private data on 87 million Facebook users to Cambridge Analytica without user permission.

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), in an interview with Willamette Week, suggested that Mark Zuckerberg should face a prison term for lying to American citizens about Facebook’s privacy lapses.

“Mark Zuckerberg has repeatedly lied to the American people about privacy,” Senator Wyden said in the interview. “I think he ought to be held personally accountable, which is everything from financial fines to — and let me underline this — the possibility of a prison term. Because he hurt a lot of people. And, by the way, there is a precedent for this: In financial services, if the CEO and the executives lie about the financials, they can be held personally accountable.”

An editor’s note from Willamette Week cited a professor from the University of Oregon, Tim Gleason, who said “the likelihood of criminal action is rather slim.” Zuckerberg has dodged shareholder questions about whether he would be willing to step down as Facebook CEO or chairman.

Senator Wyden introduced a bill in 2018, the Consumer Data Protection Act, that would give the FTC power to crack down harder on companies who violate consumer privacy. The bill says executives could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $5 million personal fine.

• In July, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission fined Facebook $5 billion, the largest ever imposed by the FTC against a tech company, after it started probing the company’s privacy practices in March 2018. The FTC focused on a massive data breach that gave Cambridge Analytics access to private data from 87 million Facebook users. Facebook, the FTC said, was supposed to tell users when their data was being used by third party firms.

  The SEC also announced that Facebook will pay a $100 million fine for misleading investors about the risks it faced from the misuse of user data. “For more than two years, Facebook’s public disclosures presented the risk of misuse of user data as merely hypothetical when Facebook knew that a third-party developer had actually misused Facebook user data,” the SEC said in July.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Monday criticized Sen. Lindsey Graham over a Washington Post report claiming the lawmaker urged police to fire their weapons during the Capitol riot. 

The Post on Sunday published an extensive new account of the violence on January 6.

One detail it higlighted was, it said, Graham bluntly telling police to use their guns as the rioters advanced on the Senate chamber.

Carlson has for months been promoting distorted accounts and conspiratorial "false flag" theories about riot, seeking to portray the protesters as peaceful conservatives ensnared in a government plot.

In a new documentary series he claimed the riot was instigated by the FBI, despite the absence of evidence to substantiate the claim. Some Fox News hosts and guests have pushed back against the premise of the series.

On Monday's edition of his show, Carlson turned on Graham in light of The Post's story. 

"Really?" said the Fox News host of Graham's reported remarks.

"This is the conservative position? Unarmed protestors show up, look, they shouldn't have been there. We've never defended that and never would.

"But kill them? What the hell's wrong with you, Lindsey Graham?" Carlson asked. Per The Post, Graham did not directly ask for officers to kill anybody, instead saying to officers: "You've got guns. Use them."

Carlson continued in his attack: "How long before you're ordering drone attacks on people whose politics you don't like? What a revealing moment this is."

The remarks highlight a rift in the American right over the Jan 6 riot, and Donald Trump's role in instigating it.

Some Republicans who criticized Trump in the wake of the riot, such as Rep. Liz Cheney, have been ostracized from the party.

Trump has sought to defend the rioters and continued to push the election-fraud conspiracy theories that incited the attack, ahead of a widely expected presidential campaign in 2024.

Carlson on Monday also attacked Cheney, whom he described as a "left-wing wacko."

Infant Formula Scandal

Food that is made to be used instead of breast milk is known as infant formula. There are many laws that regulate how infant formula products should be marketed. Nestlé's soluble milk is a product that falls under this definition. In the 1970s, Nestlé marketed its soluble milk to mothers with infants. This was also done in developing countries. The marketing campaign led to a boycott known as Nestlé boycott, which is still ongoing.^[8] In 1981, the World Health Organisation published a guideline for advertising infant formula products.^[9] Nestlé is being critizised because supposedly it does not respect this code of conduct. Nestlé's policy^[10] states that breast-milk is the best food for infants, and that women who cannot or choose not to breast feed need an alternative to ensure that their babies are getting the nutrition they need. The problem is that mothers who stop breastfeeding will not be able to start again, after some time. They will become dependent on infant formula products to feed their babies.

Child Labour

The 2010 documentary The Dark Side of Chocolate^[11] found that Nestlé purchases cocoa beans from Ivory Coast plantations that use child slave labour. Most children are between twelve and fifteen years old. Some are trafficked from nearby countries.^[12] The first allegations that child slavery is used in cocoa production appeared in 1998.^[13] In late 2000, a BBC documentary reported the use of enslaved children in the production of cocoa in West Africa.^[13][14][15] Other media also reported widespread child slavery and child trafficking in the production of cocoa.^[16][17] In September 2001, Bradley Alford, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé USA, signed the Harkin-Engel Protocol. The Harkin-Engel Protocol is an international agreement aimed at ending child labour in the production of cocoa.^[18] It is commonly called the Cocoa protocol.

In convention 182, the International Labor Organization defines what it calls the "worst forms of child labour". The Harkin-Engel protocol specified a deadline in 2005, to eliminate these from cocoa production. Because the cocoa industry did not meet this deadline, a lawsuit was filed against Nestlé and others on behalf of three Malian children. The suit alleged the children were trafficked to the Ivory Coast, forced into slavery, and were frequently beaten on a cocoa plantation.^[19][20]

In September 2010, the US District Court for the Central District of California found that corporations cannot be held liable for violations of international law and dismissed the suit. The case was appealed to the US Court of Appeals.^[21][22]

A 2009 joint police operation conducted by INTERPOL and Ivorian law enforcement officers resulted in the rescue of 54 children and the arrest of eight people involved in the illegal recruitment of children.^[23]

The campaign of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) mistakenly identified her as a representative of Utah in a report submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Thursday. 

“Thanks for reaching out,” a spokesperson for Boebert, Jake Settle, said in response to an inquiry about the Forbes article that first reported on the filing. “I flagged this for our team!” 

An earlier version of the report for the campaign’s third quarter of 2021, filed Oct. 15, listed Boebert’s state as Colorado. A revised version was filed Thursday and changed the state and congressional district from Colorado 03 to Utah 03, among other amendments. Following Forbes’ report, the filing was edited again on Friday to say Colorado.

Since her election to the House of Representatives last year, Boebert, a gun-rights advocate and Donald Trump disciple, has routinely made headlines for spreading conspiracy theories, vaccine skepticism and bigotry, and for her tendency to self-own, usually when attacking others.

She was named in a Rolling Stone report last week as one of multiple Republican members of Congress who communicated with organizers of the Jan. 6 attack in the weeks before the U.S. Capitol was stormed by a pro-Trump mob seeking to overturn the 2020 election. Boebert has denied any involvement.

Twitter critics did not let the error slide.

British politicians have long been admired across the Atlantic for their rhetorical flourish, and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson rose to the occasion during his opening address as the host leader at the U.N. Climate Change Conference that opened in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday.

Johnson opened with a clever analogy, welcoming the assembled delegates “to Scotland, whose most famous fictional son is almost certainly a man called James Bond.” Bond films, Johnson noted, often culminate with the hero “strapped to a doomsday device, while a red digital clock ticks down remorselessly to a destination that will end human life as we know it.”

“We are in roughly the same position, my fellow world leaders, as James Bond today, except this is not a movie, and the doomsday device is real,” Johnson said. “The clock is ticking to the furious rhythm of hundreds of billions of engines and furnaces and turbines that are enveloping the Earth in an invisible and suffocating blanket of CO2.”

Johnson is the leader of Britain’s Conservative Party. But his position is typical of the major center-right parties in Europe. Indeed, his counterparts, such as Germany’s outgoing conservative leader, Angela Merkel, have, if anything, exceeded him in transitioning their economies away from fossil fuels and providing financing to developing nations to grow on a greener path than developed countries have.

So Johnson is not an exception among conservatives in advanced industrialized democracies; U.S. Republicans are. Indeed, Johnson’s whole posture toward climate science — which former President Donald Trump flagrantly rejects — is indistinguishable from that of an American Democrat like President Biden.

“We know what the scientists tell us, and we have learned not to ignore them,” Johnson said before listing the horrifying effects of increased additional global warming, including more frequent cyclones and droughts, “jeopard[izing] the food supply for hundreds of millions.”

“The children who will judge us are the children not born, and their children,” Johnson warned.

“We must not fluff our lines or miss our cue,” he added, with a reference to live theater that would surely seem too obscure to most American politicians.

To an American who cares about climate change and is frustrated by the political divisions over the issue in the United States, Johnson’s language was a stirring reminder that in other rich, powerful countries, the cause is increasingly universal.

In fact, outside the U.S., the biggest impediments to climate action aren’t necessarily right-wing politicians, or even fossil fuel corporations, so much as the natural tension between prioritizing economic growth and climate action. European nations, including the U.K., reduce their own carbon footprint even as they continue to extract and export oil. China and India invest in renewable energy but keep building coal-fired power plants.

So far, it is not clear whether those obstacles will be overcome at the conference in Glasgow, also known as COP26. But the stakes are enormous, as Johnson made clear.

“If we do not get serious about climate change today,” he warned, “it will be too late for our children tomorrow.”

 People make Hitler comparisons all the time and often they do it for shock value because they don't know the facts or simply because they are lazy. Did the Trump mob use Hitler's big lie strategy? Of course they did but that is where the similarity ends. 

There are still pundits claiming that Trump supporters were duped. It could be argued that a lot of them were duped in 2016 but that would be shaky argument. Arguing that they were duped in 2020 is just stupid and perhaps wishful thinking on the part of people who would like to believe that 50% of Americans are deplorable and depraved. 

Hitler totally shut down the media in Nazi Germany and yes, the German people really were duped. Most MAGAta knew Trump was a liar and they knew he was a slime of a man but they didn't care. Trump was everything a MAGAt was and Trump was everything a MAGAt aspired to be. MAGAts either are or want to be wealthy, inhumane, pimps, and thieves.

Not all that many Germans were members of the Nazi party. Very few Italians were fascists. The same cannot be said for Americans who still support Trump. There are two types MAGAts. There are the go along to get along MAGAts, Those would be members of the media and Republican politicians.The other are the delusional and depraved believers. All of them should be punished but IMO the ones with the most influence, the politician and the media pundits have earned the most severe punishments. A lot of them should be executed for treason. Trash such as Steve Bannon, Ted Cruz, Sean Hannity and the Trump kids should be the first ones to see the noose, firing squad or the guillotine and the heads of the social media corporation need to join them.

Barron also got a double dose of the depravity gene. Donald Jr dumped his wife and went with whore Kimberly Guilfoyle who was even to much of a sleazy whore for Fox News.
